College of Social Work Student Association (CSWSA)

CSWSA members affirm their commitment to social work values and the advancement of the social work profession, the Ohio State community, and the greater Columbus communities. In fulfillment of this mission, CSWSA members participate in service projects that benefit their communities. For example, the organization hosted a bake sale to sponsor families through the Salvation Army Adopt-a-Family Program. Both BSSW and MSW are invited to join CSWSA. The group is also open to Sociology and Psychology majors who have interest in Social Work.
To join CSWSA contact the organization's President, Elon Simms (simms.51@buckeyemail.osu.edu). Elon will share information about upcoming meetings and events in which you are welcomed to participate. CSWSA is advised by Field Education Coordinator Teri Kinsway.

MWANAFUNZI, Swahili for “student,” strives for unity and cohesiveness among minority students and the professional community. Founded in 1974, MWANAFUNZI is proud to be in its 34th consecutive year of existence. The MWANAFUNZI CHAPTER of the National Association of Black Social Workers (NABSW) was organized for students in social work and related disciplines and is based at The Ohio State University College of Social Work, Columbus, OH. The primary concern of the organization has been to provide a means to ensure academic support and excellence among minority students within The College of Social Work and related disciplines. MWANAFUNZI provides a structure and forum, through which students of color in social work and related fields can exchange ideas, participate in and sponsor activities, provide academic support and serve as a valuable resource to one another, the university, and the community at large.
