How to Apply

APPLICATION TO THE SOCIAL WORK MAJOR

Criteria

In order to apply to the social work major, you must meet the following criteria prior to beginning the social work major in autumn: 

• Complete the pre-major required course work: 
  
  (Biology 101 and 102; English 110; Math 104 or above, or math placement of N or higher; Psychology 100; Social Work 100 or equivalent, 220, 230, 300; and Sociology 101)   
  
  All other GECs, if not completed prior to entering the major, must be completed prior to graduation.
   
• Demonstrate academic readiness as evidenced by GPA (minimum 2.0 cumulative point-hour ratio and minimum 2.0 pre-major point hour ratio after completion of the required pre-major courses.
   
• Demonstrate personal and professional readiness to work with clients, consistent with the NASW Code of Ethics.  

Instructions

All future major students must complete the major application. If you are transferring into the social work major from another university or college, you must complete the application process to The Ohio State University as well as to the College of Social Work. 

To apply to the major, you must submit all of the following application materials:

1. College of Social Work Major Application

2. Unofficial Transcript (future OSU transfer students)

Applications will be reviewed and candidates will be invited for an in-person interview. You will be notified regarding your selection to interview via e-mail.

November 1, 2011

Applications received beyond the deadline will be considered if space permits.
